After renouncing His home at the tender age of 11, Bhagwan Swaminarayan commenced a journey of spiritual awakening across the length and bredth of India - during which he came to be knows as Nilkanth Varni. Barefooted, Nilkanth Varni walked alone, covering over 8000 miles over 7 years.

As a tribute to His divine sojourns, a small murti has been ceremoniously consecrated by His Divine Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj in the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Houston, Texas.

As a mark of their devotion and gratitude for His sacrifice and compassion for humanity, devotees offer abhisek to the murti of Nilkanth Varni. Many more come to simply offer prayers and seek answers to their troubles. They leave rejuvenated as well as solaced in mind and spirit.

Abhishek Mahima

"Abhishek is an ancient Vedic ritual of pouring holy water upon the head of God or His murti to honor him and to attain His blessings for inner peace and prosperity. Here the sacred waters of Ganga and Yamuna are ceremoniously poured upon the murti of Nilkanth Varni, the child yogi form of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. May this ritual fill our human life with His divine virtues of faith, fearlessness, humility, self-control, love and peace and also fulfill our innermost prayers and wishes"
